We planted in a contained landscaped area at our school. It was a bit difficult to get through the soil (hit clay) and around the tree roots and through the plastic/paper layer that the school personnel had put down to keep down weeds. We did add bone meal before we placed the bulbs down. We don't have many squirrels in our area so we didn't put down chicken wire. Today's temperature was below or around freezing (32F at 2:00) with snow predicted for tomorrow. There was little wind. It had been warm (60's) until last weekend with temperatures dropping on Monday the 10th of November. There are four teams of 7th graders that are participating in the project. We were the first of the four groups. Total about 450 students will plant bulbs in adjacent areas.
