We planted our bulbs November 20, 2014. We learned more about the bulb such as, in the center is a baby flower bud and it is there because it needs to be protected as a bud. The Basal Stem connects everything together. Roots grow out of the Basal Stem, it is short and stubby. The thin onion like skin is called tunic, it protects the scales or the inside of the bulb. The inside feels moist and smooth and smells like potato. The tempature is 20 degrees F. and 16 degree F. wind chill. We had 27 students esxh child planted 2 bulbs
