Tulips PLANTED
Sightings report image

Date: 11/20/2014

Number: 1

Today a group of 6th graders have planted 2 tulip bulbs in 28 degree weather and a wind chill of 16 degrees. Our goal is to collect data on which bulb will sprout first. How long will it take to sprout and when they bloom? Another one of our goals to find out exactly that. In the classroom we measured the circumference of the bulb and the weight of the two bulbs. One cool fact that we learned is a tulip bulbs cannot grow in just heat it needs a little bit of coolness to grow. If you cut open a tulip bulb notice that the inside of it has a little bit of juice. That is the water that provides the bulb with nutrients. So far this has been a wonderful experience and I encourage other schools to do it too.
