Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 11/21/2014

Number: 1

Have seen several Monarch Butterflies flying around the milkweed during the past week or two. Last week I saw, what I thought, were eggs.

On Monday, November 17th we found two small (probably second instar) caterpillars on the milkweed in our front yard. In checking on the caterpillars Wednesday we found six of them. Unfortunately the weather here in Key Largo has been cold, windy, and today rainy. I'm glad the caterpillars are doing okay and I'll keep watching.

Found all six caterpillars on our milkweed this morning. I think they are in the Fourth Instar - possibility the Fifth Instar. Will continue to observe and send a report when they pupate.
