It was a nice day when we began our tulip planting. The day was cool enough for a jacket at 75 degrees. It was a little cloudy, but mostly sunny. Planting was interrupted by the polar blast that dropped temperatures nearly forty degrees the next day. Students had to wait several days before completing the planting of bulbs on Thursday, ten days later. Each of the students in the seven first grade classes planted one tulip bulb, nearly 168 bulbs altogether.
Second grade students planted six bulbs per class, changing one variable in the experiment to compare results to the first grade classes garden.
