Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 12/01/2014

Number: 1

I have many tropical milkweed plants in my front yard and observed one female monarch in the past week laying eggs and also have at least 10 caterpillars right now on those milkweed. I had caterpillars and chrysalis over the summer months but most of them died, both in caterpillar stage and chrysalis stage. They turned black and never made it. Hoping this new group of caterpillars will produce some healthy butterflies. Have noticed a big absence of monarch butterflies this summer and fall, I usually have allot of them because I have allot of milkweed plants.
