Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 12/05/2014

Number: 41

I still have 41 pupae that were collected as 1st and second instar caterpillars from eggs laid outside in November in two different locations in Maverick County. Here in my backyard and in another wild yard on the Cunningham Ranch 15 miles north. Had to cut all my tropical milkweed down to the ground to have food for them, but this is the time I cut it back anyway! It's still so warm that they would have been fine outside. In fact, I found my first pupa in the wild from the same group of eggs--on a tree branch about 6'6" off the ground by my water fountain!
