I was visiting Tucson, AZ over the Thanksgiving holiday and I stopped at my favorite garden center, Mesquite Valley Growers. A sales clerk in the gift shop had a Monarch larvae in a box under the lamp. She didn't know what it was. She thought it was just cold and she was trying to revive it. It was about an inch and a half long. I was so surprised to see Monarch larvae in Tucson since there are no common milkweed there. They do have a couple of regional milkweed varieties for sale in the garden center. This larvae had obviously been eating well. I didn't know there were Monarchs in the Tucson area but they told me they see lots of the larvae in the garden center.
