We planted our tulips on Nov. 24th at 10:40 in the morning. It was a sunny, warm day with a clear sky and no clouds. There was a breeze that made it feel a little cool sometimes. The air temperature was 62F. Some of us predicted that maybe the soil temperature would be warmer than the air temperature because the sun is shining straight down on the earth. Some of us predicted that the soil temperature would be colder because it is too deep under ground and the sun can't warm it up. The soil temperature was 52F. It was colder than the air temperature.
