We planted our tulip bulbs today. It was really cold! It was a clear, windy day. The air temperature was 35F. The sky was blue with some clouds. We predicted that the soil temperature might be warmer than the air because it would be protected from the cold wind. The soil temperature was 52F!. It was warmer than the air.
