for the past 4 years I have had hummingbirds winter over. In doing research I discovered that these rouge birds depend on my food source to survive. It gets very cold here in the winter. Single digits at night isn't unusual I now have heated hummingbird feeders and a heated water source for them so taking care of these little ones is so much easier.
