They are putting on quite a rare show for this location and time of year. Many daily swooping and looping sessions of synchronized flights in HUGE numbers! Estimations are impossible because there are so many. But experienced guess would be over 2000 per acre!
Amazing Day and Night social calling/singing. Loud decibels in large forested valley continuing 24 hrs. Milling about and short flights from tree to ground nonstop. Observing them voraciously consuming weed seeds and patrolling the lawns in large groups. Weather has been fairly constant 30's daytime and teens at night.
No snow cover yet. This arrival has been going on for 4 days now!
Really amazing numbers.
