Its has been a reasonably mild winter here in Houston, Texas and I still have a decent supply of milkweed and flowering plants. In the month of January, I found five Monarch caterpillars in my garden. With an impending cold front, I brought them to shelter and they all went to chrysalis and hatched. I found one on the ground floundering that had hatched outside and its wings had a slight crinkle at the bottom on both sides so not sure how that happened but it was unable to fly that way. I have two more in the chrysalis stage and the weather should be in the 70's this weekend when they are expected to hatch.
