On Sunday, 22 February 2015, I observed an adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird in bright, shiny-fresh plumage that appeared to me to fit the bill of a northbound migrant at Lizette Wroten's 'Harahan Hummingbird Haven'. In my experience, wintering adult male Ruby-throateds, which are few and far between, do not usually present with the same brilliance as do incoming migrants. Additionally, immature males that winter in southern Louisiana do not usually acquire their adult plumage until later in March or even April. I do not have any images and it was a very brief sighting, which was at the home of a friend.
