Today marked the return of the first male Rufus to my feeder in 2015. He indulged himself by taking some really big, long drinks. He returned several times throughout the day, much to my delight. During one of his visits he was met at the feeder by my dominant resident male Anna's. A standoff in mid air told the visitor that he was trespassing. But after a few short lived fights, they eventually came to an agreement. To see the amazing and completely different colors of the two species, side by side sharing the feeder, is my favorite testimony that spring is most definitely here.
