The first red winged blackbird showed up in my yard this afternoon. The highlight of my day, though, was sighting of three bald eagles. I saw the first one this morning, a few miles southwest of Atlantic Iowa. I am pretty sure that one is a year round resident in that area. Then right after noon I saw two bald eagles in Council Bluffs, near Lake Manawa. These two were probably migrating through our area as we get a lot of bald eagles stopping at the lake for a few days every year.
