Nature never ceases to amaze me. The overwintering hummingbird that still favors a Rufous came back, or never left. This is the fourth time it’s surprised me with a return, so to speak. I noticed the feeder level was dropping this past week. Then yesterday a hummingbird appeared in kitchen window with feeder almost empty, but the nesting Mockingbird above feeder in honeysuckle scared it away. I refilled feeder quickly. This a.m. while tapping the coffee cup as usual to call in the Cardinals the Rufous appeared with same markings same spots it sits in. I haven’t sighted it since Feb. 26th. as mentioned before.
Go figure.
