Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/25/2015

Number: 1

No Milkweed visible yet. A. asperula from perennial roots normally has emerged by now. (A. viridis will not emerge for several weeks yet.) Cold weather through mid-March has probably delayed them. A similar late emergence occurred in spring 2011.

However nectar flowers have begun to emerge. Favorites Texas Blue Star and Downy Paintbrush have begun to emerged. Also widespread small asteraceae, but with less nectar volume per flower.
