Bald Eagle
Sightings report image

Date: 03/28/2015

Number: 1

Our resident eagle pair returned for the third year, first noticed mid-Nov '14. Didn't spot them again until mid-Dec (pic, pair together in nearby tree in Dec, sorry it's so small), but was pretty sure their nest was being repaired after a third of it slid down the tree trunk in a late April wind & rain storm last spring. Luckily the 3 young they raised last spring had started flying a couple of weeks before, but they all disappeared shortly after the storm & I wondered if the pair would return to rebuild or choose to relocate.
Finally started spotting the adults again in Feb '15 & was pretty sure mom was guarding eaglets in the nest. Didn't see but one adult at a time for awhile, but eventually saw 2 dark heads popping above the edge of the nest, one much braver than the other and the othervery shy of observation. My niece & her daughters onserved them from another vantage piint for about 2 hours a couple of weeks bak and said they were flapping those wings a bunch, I's seen that dome slready ffrom my normal dpit, but she said one was vonsiderably larger than the other, but both seemed quite active.
