Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/27/2015

Number: 1

My brother has been out at the pasture all week and called tonight
to tell me that there were Monarchs flying by from the south. Since
Monday every time he drove down into the pasture in the ecart he said
he saw at least one Monarch. He said the wildflowers, esp BB, were
getting thick all over the pasture and there was a great deal more
of the A. asperula blooming.

This is at least as good as the last two years and probably much better
if he was doing an actual Monarch count for several hours. I would
guess that with the sightings reported from Mexico things at the pasture
will be real good the end of next week for a couple of weeks. From
everything we have seen this spring and from the reports, the late cold
weather and extended cool, damp days have made everything a couple of
weeks later than the past couple of years ... but the wildflowers, milkweeds,
and Monarchs are finally all coming together.

After a windy norther yesterday, today was 78 dF, little wind, clear.
Forecast for the next ten days is 70's to lower 80's and even some
low 90's a bit to the west of us, a chance of T-storms next Tue & Wed.

Take care ... They are coming,
