Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/30/2015

Number: 1

Just had my first of year Monarch (a big worn pale female)
in front yard about 2:45 p.m. Monday March 30. Only one
year in prior 10 was a later first of year date than this
years' arrival.

Here are my arrival dates the last decade. The requirement to make
this is that it is a big worn faded pale one. Though never has a
fresh mint one (just-emerged) been seen before the pale faded migrants
arrive

2005 was a very wet year and the winter of 04-05 long and cold with
late freezes, and fronts making it into Mexico. We had a long cold
winter this year as well with multiple March fronts making it far south
into Mexico. A number of bird species were late in arrival here this
spring to match such as Barn Swallow and Purple Martin, as well as others
still overdue here like Scissor-tailed Flycatcher and Clay-colored
Sparrow.
