All Other Signs of Spring
Sightings report image

Well after a nasty day yesterday and a better one today and even better tomorrow I am hoping that Spring is finally coming for us. In all my travels to different parks, lakes, and ponds, etc. I have seen so many sightings of wildlife and plants. As far as home plants I have daffodils, hyacinth, columbine, tulips, and all other container plants peeking through the dirt. Buds on daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths. In the parks there are plants emerging that I have no clue as to there names but there are flowers on them others have red berries. There are Blue Herons, mating ducks, a set of swans, hawks, various birds many names I know and again a lot I don't. As far as at home all the usual birds for this time of year and one very friendly Mockingbird who is very vocal when I am out follows me around to see what I am doing. He really loves the suet baskets. Made a gallon of nectar and I am going to hang up my first feeder for the Hummers. They are already in Virginia at the top of the state so it won't be long and they will be around. It's been a long and cold dragged on winter and I am tired of it already and I am sure I'm not the only other person who feels like me. We are all sitting here now just waiting to see our first one. WHO will be the first to post? Lets make sure everyone is looking to see who wins, this way it gives hope to others that it is just a matter of time. I submitted my little Downy Woodpecker peeking out of his house. He is so cute. I am going to start a tray of seeds so they will be hardy enough to get outside when it warms up. Well let the game begin. Would love to hear from others in my area what they are doing to get ready for the hummers and as far as their gardens both inside and out. Karen :0) Send in photos!!!
