Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/01/2015

Number: 1

Saw at least four between 1545 and 1610, one at a time in separate locations, all on our property. All were flying energetically but not directionally. One never landed. One flushed from Texas Blue Star flowers. One appeared to be patrolling the edge of a grove of trees flying about 50 yards along the edge then back then repeat. I got pictures of the two that did (briefly) land after I saw them. Attached picture is of the third sighted, which seems to be in pretty good shape. It's perched on a Gum Bumelia tree whose leaves are just emerging. The other one that I was able to get a picture of was more obviously faded and had tattered wing fringes.
