Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/03/2015

Number: 1

A female was laying eggs for over 2 hours on our 5 backyard milkweed plants on April 3, 2015.
Additionally, a few weeks ago,a few larvae fed on the barely- leafing dormant milkweeds. The eggs were laid during March, but no dates available. Only one larva survived. Due to cold temperatures, it was forced to pupate early - so it was small, but it produced an adult. One of the wings was malformed- probably due to less than adequate food source and being undersized - so it never flew and died in the plant pot where it emerged. The adult emerged and died on March 29.
