I just talked to my brother out at our pasture in western DeWitt County. We've been Monarch watching together for years but he has been out there the past couple of days with three friends. His report was that yesterday before the front he counted over twenty Monarchs remigrating to the north thru the pasture. The pasture has many Asclepias asperula (native antelope horns) and multitudes of other wildflowers that are nearing full bloom. The pasture is 65 miles ESE of San Antonio and about 640 miles NNE of the sanctuaries. This is the greatest one day count of Monarchs since since three years ago. The last two years we didn't get twenty in a week even with 8 hours of watching a day in the pasture.
