Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/09/2015

Number: 1

While working in the garden yesterday afternoon I sighted a monarch flying over our greenhouse. Unfortunately we have only one tiny inch tall volunteer milkweed plant available; it was not located by the monarch. Monarch wings were not tattered or faded but perhaps its coloring wasn't as bright as a fresh born. It was a sunny day with temperatures in the high 70's and a 5+ mph wind. I watched for another 30 minutes but did not see the butterfly again. I will plant my tropical milkweed plants today!
