At my house, the butterfly flew around my kids and I headed north. It didn't land on any flowers but we had a great view as it flew a few feet from us. I live near the intersection of elk valley road and parkway dr., del Norte county, ca. We are 4.3 miles NE of crescent city in the country. Lots of flowers are blooming.

This is the first monarch we have seen. It was warm, sunny, slight breezes from the north when we saw it at about 12:45 pm.
