Lake L'Homme Dieu near Alexandria, Minnesota
"High winds and 70-degree temperatures made short work of the ice on Lake L’Homme Dieu in Alexandria Saturday, making April 11 this year’s official ice-off date."
"The date is 15 days earlier than last year’s mark of April 26 and more than a month ahead of 2013’s ice-out of May 13."
"The
Echo Press has been keeping track of the ice-out times dating back to 1867. Lake Osakis was originally the official lake but the site was changed to Lake L’Homme Dieu in 1965. This year’s ice-out on Lake Osakis was also April 11."
