First sighting of a ruby-throated male. He actually came back to the playground behind our house to let me know he was here, which is several yards away from the feeder in the front yard. When I checked the feeder it was empty. I had been filling it for the last couple of weeks in anticipation of his arrival. He was telling me that I needed to fill it up so he could eat! This was the first hummingbird, we saw for the season. We saw him again the next day on Monday (04/12/15) as he came by as soon as I went to check the feeder in the morning and then on Tuesday (04/14/15), we saw two males competing for the feeder. I believe they are part of last year's brood. So happy to see their return.
