"Each spring the official ice-out call is anxiously awaited by many. This year is not a record breaker but it’s earlier than average. The official ice out determined by the Messenger was April 13 between noon and midnight. Previous years have been quite different. Ice out was called on May 7 in 2014. A record late ice out was May 16 in 2013. In 2012, the ice was officially out on March 26 – a record early ice out."
