Our two tulip gardens look very different. The one in which we amended the soil with bonemeal has 20 tulips in bloom with several others ready to bloom. There are others that have emerged. The garden without the bonemeal has only 4 tulips in bloom, and only a few others have emerged. We have had no deer damage which we think is due to the soap and pinwheels we placed in the garden. Another deterrent we used was plastic grocery bags. An Ohio arborist told us that tying plastic bags on posts or shepherds' hooks will scare the deer away because they don't like the noise they make when the wind blows.
