While walking along a country road, two full-sized monarch caterpillars were seen on a Antelope Horns milkweed. There were many other milkweeds along this 200 yard stretch of dirt road but no other larvae or caterpillars were seen. This was in a very rural area where there are hundreds of acres of undeveloped land containing thousands of milkweed plants. Only one adult monarch butterfly was seen in this area in the last two weeks.
