Three monarchs, two females, one male feeding on forsythia blossoms. 11:30 AM, sunny day, temp about 65 F. The monarchs did not look tattered - time period was over the course of a couple of hours. In the surrounding area near the flowers there is not any milkweed available that I have seen.
To the best of my knowledge they were monarchs. Should have taken a photo. I raised monarchs in the classroom for many years, but have moved from elementary to higher education.
