The first male yellow-headed blackbird appeared at the feeders with the red-wings, Pine Grosbeaks, finches, white crowns and Fox Sparrows in late morning. A female put in an appearance later in the day. In the next few weeks we will see dozens of them as they nest at the lake a short fly away from our house. They are just gorgeous-in spite of their most un-musical call.
