Just saw my first hummingbird of the season. I had been checking Journey North for the last couple of weeks and there had been about 3 postings/sightings or north of Missoula and one in Missoula a week ago. 6:02PM Went outside and was watching a Robin in my birdbath on our back deck and all of a sudden heard the buzzing and there it was at a feeder by our bar-b-que grill. Then it went around to the feeder on the front deck. It was a male Calliope. I put my feeders up a week ago as they always show up here at my house about the 27th or 28th of April. We live a bit south of Missoula on the Bitterroot River across from Lolo, Montana. It's always such a thrill to see or hear the first one.
