Got out this afternoon to check the BIG & BEAUTIFUL antelope horn along the roadside in several places. Looked plant after glorious plant but found not a single egg or chew hole. 😔 It's the healthiest & most prolific bunch I think I've ever seen! Bees and little butterflies were all over it.
Did see one Monarch at the farm around my potted milkweed plants but have yet to check for eggs. Will look before I head back to Austin on Sun AND on my plants at home because I get to sub in 2nd grade this week and they are studying GUESS WHAT??? .... BUTTERFLIES!!!😍
They've ordered painted lady eggs, but I really want to take monarchs too, if I find any. I purchased 10 SAFE tropical milkweed plants for the Green Team to add to the plants they already have at school. Hope they flourish and bring on lots of seeds. Couldn't locate any natives locally to put in at that time. Maybe next year.
Hope we have more monarchs still on their way up from Mexico. The pic is just one of the msny lovely, strong plants in this spot by the toad...MORE THAN EVER BEFORE!!
