Bald Eagle

Date: 04/25/2015

Number: 1

Two beautiful bald eagles directly overhead circling at treetop level. This took place at 8:50 AM over the North Congregational Church. The people waiting in line for the doors to open to the flea market had quite a thrill!

Earlier this year, in mid-March on the Saturday before the Shepaug Eagle Observatory closed for the season we saw an immature (brown head) eagle eating a seagull on the river by the bridge. No Eagles up at the observatory that day. The river was frozen and the birds were hungry.

In early December I saw a mature bald eagle flying along the river from Kettletown State park. I was up in the campsite. My husband saw a mature eagle down by the dam in Monroe CT in early March.

Quite impressed by the birds sighted yesterday right in town. There are fields and farmland not far away and a river.
