Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/26/2015

Number: 1

Except for an hour or two, the temps have been too low since April 18th for monarch activity here is Lawrence. In fact, first sightings have been scarce north of 36N for more than 10 days. Milkweed is up and ready. Nectar sources are scarce in the countryside but fair to good in the city - dandelions, lilac varieties, sweet william, and verbena. If we are lucky, we will see a returning migrant or two from Weds onward but this is looking like one of those years in which our first monarchs of the year will the new generation moving north from TX.
