Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/22/2015

Number: 1

Yay! 1st seen of season - on Earth Day! One male, full red throat and forked-tail came to feeder on chilly 39 degree morning at 8 am. Drank for several minutes without stopping, then perched lower than feeder in a hydrangea bush for several minutes, drank again and flew into Norway Maple tree 30 feet away (where females have perched/nested the last two seasons.) Have noticed feeders being depleted of nectar from a few days before this sighting, and not since that day. (I'm posting this on 4/29/15; not much time for Internet work nor extended periods in garden since my husband and I adopted a 10 week-old puppy!)
