Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/28/2015

Number: 1

1st little male hummer, our "Speedy" is BACK, woo-hoo!! He showed up at dusk at 7:30 pm, went right to our feeder, took a few sips, then flew off. Came back several times to feed, then rested in our crabapple tree next to the feeder in between sips. This went on back & forth for about 20 minutes & then he must've unrolled his sleeping bag & bedded down for the night! He was out there off & on all day today, 4/29, so looks like he's here to stay! He hasn't noticed our flowers yet: Columbine & Dianthus, but I'm sure he will in no time. The crabapple tree is ready to bust out in blooms any day, so he'll have plenty to feast on. Hope he enjoys the peace & quiet, as all heck will break loose once the girls show up! We did have a migrant male stop'n'go on 4/27, but he made a quick hit on the feeder, then continued his journey. We're so thrilled to finally have these little bundles of joy back!
