Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/01/2015

Number: 1

This is my 2nd year of trying to help bring back the population of the monarch butterfly. My daughter got me started. We purchased our milkweed plants from Home Depot last year and built our Butterfly Garden. My daughter Tammy released over 20 butterflies last year. This early part of April this year we have had females sighted and layed eggs. We have released 4 so far. then for awhile they stopped laying eggs. They are back in full force. In my garden alone just yesterday 4-29-15 over 30 eggs were layed, and these are the ones I could see. It is exciting, but I think some may have had the OE disease as I believe I am losing another adult cat. I have brought a lot of my plants indoors to keep predators away and to keep safe. Wish us luck. We are using the Caterpillar Screens and also raring the eggs in containers and on the plants. thank you Sherrie Satterfield
