Early this morning, Speedy, our 1st male who arrived 2 days ago, was nectaring on our flowers: Columbine, Dianthus & Flowering Crabapple in addition to feeding from the feeder. He discovered all of those flowers yesterday, so I'm sure he's happy to have lots to feed on. We'll be getting more hummer-friendly flowers this weekend, so that there'll be a cornucopia of food sources for him & his buddies when they arrive. They, of course, won't think there's enough, as each hummer has to defend what they think is theirs, only! Yesterday, a little female hummer appeared, but I think she was just refueling & passing thru. We only saw her for an hour or so, feeding from the feeder, resting in the crabapple tree next to the feeder, then she made sure she squabbled with Speedy before taking off for parts unknown! No sightings of her after that yesterday or this morning, so I hope she's already arrived at her summer home to the delight of her northern human family! It'll be any day now that our females arrive to deight THIS human family!
