Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/03/2015

Number: 1

Today was our first sighting of a Spring Hummingbird flying in on our 2nd warm day @ 78 degrees...nearly 2 weeks later than last year; yet one feeder was empty the last week of April...could have dripped out on its own? We have had frost the last two weeks of April with no activity noticed.

This hummingbird was exceptionally tiny and very dark. We just had females last year. Three years ago very large males; the guy at the greenhouse called them "giants", yes! as large as a finch. Some so-called experts say they do not exist here! When I lived in Point Place (43611) on Lake Erie I was approached by a Rufous which I am familiar with from being in CA. No one believes me!
