We’re a few days away from our first 1st Generation Monarchs here in Driftwood….
Likewise we are at well over a hundred….a large number of which came from the girl in the attached photo
She spent a few hours in our backyard in early April…..and loved the top buds of the asperula plants
The wave we saw go thru in early to mid-April hung around a while but quickly disappeared north
We saw a few monarchs each day this weekend….but only finding an occasional larvae or two….no eggs
The native milkweed is absolutely stellar this year….one of the best years ever!!
I’ve been traveling a lot and it appears to be good most everywhere in the area
It appears that the outdoor predators have caught up from the cold start to the season
They are now plentiful and mortality is close to 100% in the areas we have been watching
We see mostly spiders in abundance while checking for eggs now….and larvae left with plenty of food are soon gone
Not leaving any behind at this point….
