Our Monarch class of adult Master Naturalists surveyed the Herff Farm butterfly field and looked for monarch/queen eggs and larvae on about 100 plants. We found 5 eggs and one fourth instar monarch larva. Net sleeves were placed over the milkweed stems to protect the monarchs or queens from predators.
