A neighbor found about 20 monarch caterpillars in our neighborhood butterfly garden. They were already fourth and fifth instars and had eaten all the new milkweed down to the ground, including stems! I moved them to my yard on my milkweed. Was able to keep track of 10 all the way to chrysalises, and over the last four days had 8 successful eclosures (two chrysalises were malformed).
