Tulips BLOOMED
Sightings report image

Date: 05/07/2015

Number: 1

Last week 4 of our tulips had blossomed and this week all of our tulips were blooming! Our tulips ranged in height from 26-57 cm. When some of us smelled our blossoms, they smelled like fruit punch to us. It was 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The soil temperature was 61 degrees Fahrenheit. There were quite a few weeds (like dandilions) in our garden. Some of us are worried that the weeds will suck up too much of the water, so perhaps we should pull them out on our next garden visit. We heard birds and saw them flying in the sky above our garden. Some of our tulip leaves had holes in them and we are wondering how those holes were made. Perhaps hungry caterpillars, ants, or squirrels have made the holes? We have seen signs of squirrels because we often find peanut shells in the garden. The center of our flowers were very cool because they are very colorful. They are black and a little bit of yellow. Some of us took a petal off of our flowers to tape into our science journals.
