This observation coincides with my first sighting as well, but a female humming bird came to two adjacent red flowering crab apple bushes near our home at 8:44 AM. I had put out a hummingbird feeder nearly a week and half ago anticipating their arrival hoping to be a first in my area - but nope, they waited for the red flowers to make their appearance. I hope this helps, as I don't see many people reporting nectaring - is this really important information?
