1 adult roosting in elm, windy day
The first monarch I saw this year was on April 17th. The monarch was bright enough for me to notice from about 40 feet away while it was inspecting branches of a tree to rest in. It did not look particularly worn from my vantage point after it had settled down.
Second monarch resting in another tree in my yard was seen recently on May 10th. I got a very good look at this one and it was very bright and un-worn.
