First Monarch visiting our milkweed patch this afternoon :-)
We could not get a photo, could not get close enough to tell sex. We have about 50 common milkweed plants right now, some about 12-14 inches tall. We have chives and catmint blooming near the milkweed so there is some nectar available also. I did check the milkweed for eggs last evening but didn't find any eggs. We are in south central Nebraska and had warm, sunny weather last week but it was cool and damp earlier this week. Yesterday it was In the upper 60's and partly cloudy with rain overnight. It should warm up for the next few days so hopefully we will see some more Monarchs and get some eggs. I keep eggs and cats I find very protected and Had about 100 eclose last summer.
